Two planes hit the World Trade Center, Does anyone know a family member of those who were aboard either plane? There must be many who have family members who were aboard those two flights. Out of all the planes hijacked that day, Flight 11 had the most people on board with 92. Does anyone know any of theses people? United said flight 93 from Newark to San Francisco, a Boeing 757, had crashed south of Pittsburgh. The airline said it had no other details of how many people were on board. Why would they not know? They have a passenger list don't they.
Are the planes that come in and out of developing countries of the lowest quality? Do some (or maybe all) country's airlines use lower quality planes to transport passengers to and from developing countries and use higher quality planes to and from developed countries?
What is the relationship between anatomical planes and axis? I am studying anatomy and I have all the different planes of motion memorized, but I don't understand the relationship with the axis? Like what axis a motion is in, in the sagittal plane? That is just an example, I dont understand the relationship with any of them! The only way I know what movements happen in the sagittal, frontal, transverse planes is simply by memorization...I dont understand *why*. When I start trying to answer questions with what axis AND plane a movement happens in, I am totally lost!! Thanks so much, I'm sure I am making this harder than it really is!
How do I help my 6 yr old nephew cope with planes? My nephew is obsessed about planes crashing. Everytime he sees a plane in the sky he shouts "oh no! They're going to crash!". I've been telling him that planes don't crash often but he just says that all planes crash. What is the best way to help him cope with planes? I don't want him to be really frightened when we go on a plane trip. I also found out recently that he's scared of being up high. How do i help him so he won't ask "did it crash?" when a plane was taking off?
Does anyone now good websites with planes that have inside cabin views with the planes? Please give me a link to the website. The planes have to be free. Also I want planes with cabin lights on the inside. I want the planes to work on Flight Simulator X
How safe are planes compared to 20 years ago? Can they be even safer? A few followup questions: 1) What would have to be done for them to glide better? 2) Why are the engines placed right by the fuel tanks? Doesn't it make sense to separate them? Pretty much I'm just interested in how the aviation industry works, wether there's a world standard and that sort of thing. How much are planes checked for structural integrity (no cracks, loose screws, etc). Statistically, surely, planes should be safer now than in 1987, no?
What do i do to switch planes when traveling? I'll be traveling to Oregon from San Antonio this summer. I've flown alot but i've never had to switch planes before. How does that work? Any advice. What are the planes with the hang glider and a small motor on the back called? Not too long ago I was on vacation chillin' on the beach and a small plane flew over and landed on the beach. It was cool, it seemed like a hang glider with a small motor on the back. What is the name for these planes?
How do they get the videos of planes flying above the clouds? On game shows like the Price is Right, they often give away a trip and show a smooth shot of a plane flying in the air above the clouds. It seems like there is another plane with a camera flying right beside it and at the same speed. Obviously this isn't the case because that would be too dangerous to have planes flying that close together. How do they get this footage?
How are remote controle planes powered? I'm trying to get into rc plane flying and would like to know which type of power would be best for a begginer and what models would work. I need to know how the planes are powered and which are best? thanks!
Why do planes veer to the left or right immediately after they take off? Commercial aircrafts do it but not military planes. Why?
How often do planes change tires? It seems like they waste their tires with every landing. Is it true? When i see a plane landing, planes tires are always giving out a smoke like its all wasted. Do they change tires soon? How long does a set of tyre can hold up on a commercial jet plane? And lastly, how much does it cost to buy a single plane tyre? :)
Why do planes always take the longest route to their destination? When travelling from the UK to Florida, why do planes always fly down the East coast of the US instead of just flying straight to Florida?

What are those planes that we barely can see and leave really big trails of errmm clouds behind them? Hello! I'm talking about those straight trails of cloud/smoke that we often see throughout the day. My mother told me that they are metereology planes but I can't find any pictures or information about them. Could anyone give me more information about them? :) A website with pictures would be great!! :) Thank you. Mauro

4 equally spaced planes in the air near airport just before dawn? what kind of planes were they? what were they doing? at first it seemed like they were in some kind of holding pattern, but they weren't moving at all, or they were moving really really slowly which seems strange as i would assume they would not be able to stay in the air...it was near a major international airport, pre-dawn hours. i checked again about 30 mins later and they were still in the air. anyone have any idea what was going on?
How do the planes that fly over the beach deploy their banners? How do they land? Why do it like that? I want to know if the planes POP the banner out, Or pick it up or what ever. And I really want to know why they would use one method over the other. Thanks.
What can I do to overcome my fear of planes? Hi, I am flying for the first time in my life two weeks from today. I am not specifically terrified of planes, but more terrified of heights. I have heard you can take medicine, but since its only an hour and a half flight, I don't want to be drowsy for the rest of the day. I am afraid once I get on the plane I will chicken out and get off, but my family wouldn't let me. I don't think I am nesacarily scared of crashing either. I would say its all due to fear of heights. How can I over come this before I get on the plane? Thanks.

Mexicans who have to change planes in the US on their way to europe. Do they need a US visa? My partner's mother is traveling from Mexico City to Frankfurt Germany. It is cheaper for her have a flight that makes one stop in a US city, where she would change planes and then fly to Frankfurt, rather than fly directly non-stop from Mexico City to Frankfurt. If she changes planes in the US, I believe she has to go through customs and immigration services prior to leaving for Frankfurt, Germany. Does she need to have a US visa (in addition to her passport) to change planes in the USA? A Mexican visitor to the USA needs a visa in addition to their passport to visit the USA. Does a tourist changing planes at a US airport also need a visa to pass through the USA on their way to Europe?

When switching planes do I need to reclaim and recheck my luggage? I've never flown before so I don't know the proper procedure. I heard that if you switch planes from the same airline then you don't need to recheck your luggage, it just follows you. I am switching planes and flying with the same airline, but I'm flying from Atlanta to Canada, and I don't know if I need to reclaim and recheck because I'm flying to a different country. Thanks in advance for all the help!

So sometimes we go out to melbourne airport and we watch the planes land and take off, we sit on operations rd which is at the end of runway 34 because when the planes land/take off this is the closest you can get to them. The problem is everytime we go they are rarely departing/arriving at this end and it is a waiste of time going. Does anyone know when the best time to go? Or where i could find out when planes are landing at specific runways? Thanks
How do Aeroflot keep their planes in the air? Is sellotape a common product used in maintaining planes?
Is the landing gear on planes really necessary? I think they could save so much money and energy if they just didn't put them on and have planes land on giant spongy mats instead... They will take off by sliding on ice obviously.

How do small and mid-size planes get to Hawaii? I noticed at the Honolulu airport that were many small planes and mid size airliners. On the map, HI seems far away from any other land mass so how would a CRJ or other regional jet be delivered there? Their max range is less than the distance between CA and HI. Is there a typical route they would fly to refuel?
Any other info about the discovery of 5 Avenger planes found off the Florida coast in 1991? I am familiar with the Bermuda Triangle and the 5 Avenger Planes that dissappeared (Flight 19) in 1945. Nothing has ever been "recovered or found." What are the chances of 5 Avengers being found together off the coast of Florida in 1991 and still being declared that they are not the same planes. How is that?
Geometry sketching problem two nonintersecting planes and sunlight as a line? Window glass is transparent, so visible light passes throught it. Imagine a double-paned window as two nonintersecting planes and sunlight as a line. Use sketches to show that a line contained in neither of the planes must intersect both or neither of the 2 planes.
What is the force between the two planes? 1) The electric field near the surface of a uniformly charged conducting plane can be determined by Gauss's law (look it up). If the plane is a square of sides 16.0 cm and carries a charge of 40.0 nC (that's nanocoulombs), the magnitude of the electric field near the surface is 8.828E+04 N/C A) Now let's say that a plane with a charge of equal magnitude but opposite sign is brought near the first. What is the force between the two planes?
What kind of planes give off the white line of smoke you sometimes see in the sky? And why do they do it? Are they military planes, commercial planes? I notice also that planes can turn it on and off.

What causes noise when raising or lowering flaps on new planes? The newer planes like the 767 make a groaning, howling noise when the flaps are raised or lowered. Older planes (737, 747) don't seem to do that. I presume they have changed the technology to save weight. What is that new technology?
How old on average are most commercial planes? Just wondering how old the planes we fly on are?
Why do planes come to a dead halt before starting to take off? Normally the planes at the time of take off run for some time on the runway and come to a dead halt. Then it starts again with increased speed and takes off. Why can't it continue and increase the speed and take off without coming to a halt?

Are there any experimental planes utilizing ion thrusters? I was watching a "documentary" about the "UFO" sightings over Phoenix on Mar 13, 1997 and I was wondering if the lights could be cause by advanced ion thrusters (which are real as you and me) on an experimental aircraft. Is there any known X-planes using ion propulsion or leaks about black budget programs making a ion engine-powered plane?

Since I am switching carriers do I need to claim my bags and re-check them in? This is my first time flying by myself also so if there is any advice that would be great too!
Having a chance, which of the German wonder weapon planes would you like to try to fly? Why? Let's include late models of prop planes -> 109K, Ta152, continue through the production jets and rocket fighters, to limited production or even prototypes... Mistel allowed, too, and piloted V1 for those who favor shooting star style career.
Are Composite planes inspected the way we think they are? In other Q & A regarding composite parts on planes, it has been suggested that composite parts are inspected repetitively, rigorously, and in a timely manner, using sophisticated inspection methods such as ultrasound or infrared. In fact, this is not the case. What is the standard method used by airline operators to inspect composite parts on a repetitive, ongoing basis and are the methods used effective in finding hidden damage within the composite?
What do Airlines do with flight numbers of crashed planes? I was just watching Air Crash Investigation on National Geographic, and I wondered what happens to flight numbers of crashed planes. I'll use the famous United Airlines Flight 93 as an example. Is this flight number still being used, or does the airline replace it with another flight number? Thanks
