1893 first true control flight ,how have us humans advanced so fast in just a short time ?

Otto Lilienthal makes the first true controlled flights, gliding up to 230m.

1. Food! No really. The industrialization of the food production and other things too of course. With a secure or at least safer food source people could focus on other things in life. (In general.) It became possible too feed more people and ship fresh food to other areas without it spoiling. Instead of struggling to get the food needed to survive people could start to do other things. That made science and technology boom and new inventions take form. Remove the easy access to food and make people work hard to get the food they need to stay out of starvation and the advancements will slow down or come to a halt too.
