Can the Jets beat out the Pats for the AFC East title?
I honestly see no reason why not. They beat the Pats once last year and almost beat them again in the wildcard game. Remember that the Jets were actually playing pretty well until Wilfork picked up that dropped backward pass. The Patriots did add some big names this year, but I get this feeling that they're going to suffer a lot of injuries. It already looks like that the Patritos are going to start the season against the Jets without Richard Seymour, Ty Warren, and Randy Moss. They can't generate much pressure without their two starting defensive ends and Randy Moss' absence practically eliminates the deep threat (Stallworth has looked pretty bad in the preseason). So is this the year the Jets put an end to the "dynasty" of the Patriots?

- I agree that the pats aren't looking very well, but neither are the Jets
- I'm sorry, but since the Pats added Randy Moss, and signed Asante Samuels, not gonna happen. Chad Pennington is too injury-prone. Receivers are WAAAY better than Pats receivers but better QB in Tom Brady, by a whole planet. Plus, the defense of the Patriots is too good too score 30 or 35 points on...
- Doubtful but I pray to the football gods that you are correct. The Brady to Moss thing is all hype. I wish the Jets the best of luck but New England has a more well rounded team (I just puked a little more).
- Did you not see what Tom Brady did last year and had no one to throw to. this year mad firepower; I'd hate to say it but the Pats may be the best team in the NFL this year.
- Every year I hear it's the Jets year & how good they are supposed to be, so when will that be. Patriots go to Super Bowl. Jets watch it on tv, again
- you are an retard. Jets suck! i tell u. 2006 Chad's stats: 17TD and 16 ints.
- Yes, the Jets beat the Pats once last year...but the Pats have improved more than the Jets, even if they havent looked great. Plus the Pats have Tom Brady. The Jets dont.
- You know what anything is possible in the NFL, upset is part of the NFL if a team is not ready to play. And the Jets did beat the Patriots once last year and it could happen again, OK i go out on a limp to say the Jets will beat NE Patriots on their first game of the season and pull of a shocker and beat the Patriots at home. If you want to beat a strong team like the Patriots, you do it early in the season, if they have 5 or 6 games under their belt, you can forget beating them. In beating the Patriots, Chad Pennington got to have a big games like 350 yards and 3 TD's and no turnover, and Laveranues Cole got to go off for a big games like 150 yards and 2 TD's. And the defense got to be strong and causing turnover. Yeah I'm going to call an upset early on this one, but Chad Pennington got to come up big on this game, which he can.
- I think their schedule may be too hard they will get the wild card but the Pats will win every division game except maybe the first one against the jets for the reasons you suggested.
- Dude, you lost by 21 in the playoffs. Thats not almost winning. Thats getting smacked. Have you forgotten how good the Pats are at dealing with injuries? They won the Super bowl when their top 5 dbs were 1vet 3 rookies and a wr. So, no you won't beat them out. They will be fine without those players. You're going to have to win 13 games to even have a shot and I just don't see that. And Stallworth has 5 catches for 60 yards in less than a full game with Brady. Also, Don't forget about Welker, Watson, Washington, Caldwell and Maroney.
- THey almost the wild card game except that 21 points they needed. Seriously, any division rival has a chance regardless of records simply due to the fact that division rivals know each other so well. The jets caught the pats napping last season but they got stomped in the wild card game not to mention the fact that they lost their first meeting so the jets went 1-2 against the pats with an accumulated score of 75-50. This is also the first time the Jets have beaten New England since 2002 and they have two chances a year. The jets have a scappy team, but not a very good team, Pats will beat them both times in possibly close games.
- I like you Jets fans.....your positive folk. If the Pats all go down in a plane crash...ya gotta shot.
